Dig Site, The
Starting Point: Archaeological Digsite, signposted east of Varrock, speak to examiner.
Description: Feeling uneducated? Desperate for buried treasure? ..."There's gold in them there hills" (well stream actually) as well as many other items that can be found at the Digsite. Join the students in their attempt to be a qualified archaeologist, and become experienced in making the earth move! Have you got what it takes to unearth the hidden altar to one of Runescape's lesser-known Gods...?
Requirements:25 thieving 10 agility and 10 Herblore
Difficulty: Easy
Items Needed: 1 cut or uncut opal , Cup of Tea (or 10 gp to buy a cup of tea at the new tea shop in Varrock), Pestle and Mortar, 2 Rope , An Empty Vial, Tinderbox, Gloves, and Boots
Reward: 2 Quest Points, 2 Gold Bars, 2,000 Herblore Experience, 15,300 Mining Experience, and of course the ability to Pan and Dig at the Dig Site.
After speaking to the examiner take the unstamped letter that she gave you to the curator of the Varrock museum who will stamp it. Now return and show it to the examiner
Now head over the hill and stop next to the large urn there are 2 bushes next to it. Search them to get a rock sample.
Go to the tent at the bottom of the hill and take the pan and start panning the river. When you get a rock sample you are done.
Now pickpocket archaeologists for another rock sample and a specimen brush. Now talk to the student in the green shirt and give him rock sample 1 he will give you an answer to the exam. Now talk to the other students to get the other answers. Return to the examiner to complete part 1 of the quest.
Talk to the students again for the answers to part 2. Go back and complete the exam.
For part 3 the students will give you the answers again but the female student wants an opal. So now go back and complete the part 3
Go to the northeast corner of the Digsite to the area with bones and sacks outside it. Search the sacks to get a specimen jar. Now go to the area with the winch. Go down (use rope on it) and take one of the roots that are on the ground.
Now go back to the tents and search the specimen tray until you find charcoal. Use pestle and mortar on it. Go to the barrels and use the trowel on it until it opens. Use your vile to get strange looking liquid.
Now return to the buried skeleton and use the trowel on it until you find the zaros talisman. Go to an archaeological expert and use the talisman and the vial.
You will now have gotten a scroll. Search the bookshelves to get a book on experimental chemistry. Go back to the Digsite to the northeast winch; the guy tells you that it's a private winch. Use the scroll on him to be able to go down. Operate the winch. Use your second rope on the winch, then operate it again to go down. Talk to the Workmen and say the following things: I have been invited to work here, then, do you know where I can find a chest key then from then on use the first option in every sentence to beg yourself a new key.
Now go to the tent and use the key on the chest to get an unidentified white powder. Bring it to an archaeologist. Now make an explosive compound FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS EXACTLY IF YOU DON'T WANT TO DIE A VERY EXPLOSIVE DEATH
Ammonium Nitrate on the vial
Ground charcoal on the mixture
Root on the mixture
Now go north to the wall and west to a winch. Use a rope on it to go down. use the explosive thing on the rock slide and the tinderbox on it. Go through the rubble and onto the hill in the middle of the room and take the tablet. Go back to the archaeological expert and.....
