Lost City

Starting Point: Small campfire near Draynor Village

Description: Many have tried to find the lost city of Zanaris but have failed. Can you find and unlock the secrets of this magical city?

Requirements: 31 crafting, 36 woodcutting, ability to kill a level 101 tree spirit with possibility of limited equipment. Additional requirements present with different methods of killing the spirit.

Difficulty: Hard

Items Needed: Only a hatchet, a knife, and some food at default method. Item requirements further explained in easier secondary and tertiary methods.

Reward: 3 quest points, access to Zanaris and the right to wield the Dragon longsword and dagger

  1. The whole of this quest revolves around the destruction of the level 101 tree spirit. The way Jagex meant it to be is quite hard, but there's no law saying we have to do it that way. =)

Getting Started (All methods do the same this for this part)

  1. Talk to all members of the party surrounding the campfire and ask them about Zanaris. All of the are smart enough not to reveal its secret with the exception of the warrior, who will who will reveal that a leprechaun knows the location of Zanaris.
  2. There is a tree close to the well near the camp. Attempt to chop the tree, a leprechaun will show up near the tree. Talk to the leprechaun.
  3. The leprechaun will tell you about the Dramen branch and the location of Zanaris.

Readying Reaper Roast (Method one)

  1. This is the most difficult way to destroy the spirit. There are no requirements for this.
  2. Drop off ALL armor and weapons at the bank. The only things you are allowed to have are capes, amulets, hats, rings, prayer books, and leather boots.
  3. You are also allowed runes, arrows, potions, and food.
  4. Bringing along a couple of spells isn't too bad an idea, since even water bolts might hit more than what you can hit with your bear hands.
  5. BRING A TELEPORT
  6. After you dropped off al non-permitted accessories, and advance to Port Sarim.
  7. Talk to the Monk of Entrana near the Port Sarim bar. He will take you to the island of Entrana.
  8. Once you land, start walking east. When you see a bridge, cross is and start walking west. Eventually you will see a fat Cave Monk. You may now skip to the "Starting Spirit Slaughter" section.

Readying Reaper Roast (Method two)

  1. This methods basically cheats a little and uses not weapons, but materials to make weapons. The requirements are decent fletching and high crafting levels, or some lucky items.
  2. The items for you include: unstrung bow + bowstrings, (dragon) leather + needle and thread, pickaxe/hatchet head + pickaxe/hatchet handle. There are probably others too, I'll let you think them up.
  3. The trick is to make the items with the material you brought AFTER you land on Entrana. This, unfortunately, means less inventory space for food.
  4. Drop off ALL armor and weapons at the bank. The only things you are allowed to have are capes, amulets, hats, rings, prayer books, and leather boots.
  5. You are also allowed runes, arrows, potions, and food.
  6. You are also to bring the materials to create the equipment you are about to use.
  7. BRING A TELEPORT
  8. After you dropped off al non-permitted accessories, and advance to Port Sarim.
  9. Talk to the Monk of Entrana near the Port Sarim bar. He will take you to the island of Entrana.
  10. Make the items with the materials you brought.
  11. Now you will probably notice a bunch of empty inventory spots, there's a way to fill it up with food without having to bank. First, you should drop that needle and extra thread if you made (dragon)hide armor.
  12. Start walking east until you see a bridge. Cross the bridge and you should see a small chicken farm. There's a kebab respawn in the hut near the chicken coop. Not only can you fill up with kebabs, but you can kill chickens and cook their meat.
  13. Start walking west until you reach a cave monk.
  14. You may now skip to the "Starting Spirit Slaughter" section.

Starting Spirit Slaughter

  1. Talk to the Cave Monk, he'll blab about random stuff.
  2. Make sure you have everything you need to kill the spirit.
  3. Go down the ladder and kill zombies for a bronze hatchet.
  4. Run along the tunnel past the greater demons to the Dramen tree.
  5. Try to chop it, a spirit will appear.
  6. I'm pretty sure you can't use prayer here, although it has not been confirmed.
  7. If you brought ranged gear, you may have a friend stand between you and the spirit so you can range away without being hurt.
  8. If you have a high-level friend, you can half-kill the spirit and your friend can finish it off.
  9. Kill the spirit however you want and chop the tree to get a branch
  10. If you didn't bring a teleport, find a mystic portal somewhere near the tree. It will teleport you to lvl-31 Wilderness. Otherwise, just teleport out.

Wrapping Up

  1. Go to a bank and withdraw your knife, use your knife on the branch to get a Dramen staff.
  2. Wield it.
  3. Go back to the Lumbridge swamps and search for a small hut north of the water temple. Enter it while wielding the staff.

CONGRATULATIONS! QUEST COMPLETE!

  1. As a reward for this quest, you get the ability to wield the dragon longsword and dragon dagger.
  2. The dragon dagger costs 60k from the Zanaris marketplace (marketplace costs a cut diamond to access) and about 30k unpoisoned from players, 40k poisoned from players.
  3. A dragon dagger (p) is the fastest killing weapon in the game besides abyssal whip against weaker monsters. However, due to its low accuracy and strength, it is not advised for monsters with high defense.
  4. The dragon dagger is a stab weapon, which means it is good against scaly monsters like dragons and crocs. But like mentioned before, the fact that it's a stabbing weapons might not be so important when the monster's defense is too high.
  5. The dragon dagger has a double-hit special with increased accuracy and strength, and uses 1/4 of the special bar.

¡¡

  1. Another reward for this quest is the ability to wield the dragon longsword. It is arguably the best over all dragon weapon. It is in fierce competition with the dragon scimitar for this position.
  2. The dragon longsword costs about 100k from both Zanaris and players.
  3. The dragon longsword has great versatility, being both an effective stab and slash weapon. It hails as one of the most accurate weapons in the game and has considerable strength. However, the weakness in this weapon lies within its speed. The whopping 3 second waiting time is why some people prefer the dragon scimitar.
  4. The dragon longsword has a single-hit special with increased strength and reduced accuracy. It uses 1/4 of the special bar.
