Underground Pass

Starting Point: Talk to the King of Ardougne

Description: The Underground Pass, sealed for thousands of years, has now been reopened to reveal a complex labyrinth of tunnels and chasms. You must find a way through, and get one step closer to the evil King Tyras. But the road is long and it could be lonely. When fatigue starts to take it's toll, mental strength is what you'll need...

Requirements: Must have completed Biohazard, 25 range, ability to kill 3 lvl-91 demons in a row, good agility and thieving (40+ thieving, 50+ agility) give high advantages, 43 prayer also recommended.

Difficulty: Hard

Items Needed: Bow, Arrows, Spade, 2 or more ropes, prayer potions, food (Lots of food!), some kind of jewelry teleport out would be helpful.

Reward: 5 QP, some random amount of agility exp (probably depends on level), Iban's Staff, ability to cast Iban blast (with 50 magic), 15 death runes, 30 fire runes.

  1. Before starting the quest, make sure you have 2 empty inventory spots.

Getting Started

  1. Talk to the King of Ardougne (King Lathas) to start the quest, he'll blab on about Tyras and evil people and such.

  2. Enter West Ardougne, keep going west until you find a guy named Koftic. Talk to him and go through the cave next to him.

  3. You will see a 3-way fork. Choose the one to the right of you. You will have to climb a whole shit-load of rock slides.

  4. When you've reached the end, talk to Koftic. He will give you some damp cloths (let your imagination enlighten you on what dampened the cloth).

  5. Use your damp cloth on your arrows to get fire arrows. Then use the fire arrows on the fire near Koftic to get lit fire arrows. Do this until you get 3-10 arrows.

  6. Walk behind the railings east of Koftic and shoot at the guide rope of the bridge. If you succeed, you will be taken across.

  7. Go to the north room filled with blessed spiders. There's a plank respawn there. Grab the plank.

  8. Now go south past the bridge and continue down the path. Eventually you should come to yet another fork. One of the choices is a swamp that's probably 2 feet deep, don't use that. The other choice is a bottomless pit of doom, that's soooo much safer. Swing across the bottomless pit by using your rope on the column above the pit.

  9. If you succeed, you're on the other side and lose your rope.

  10. If you don't succeed, you will find that the pit isn't so bottomless and you are put into a maze-thingy. In the maze thingy, you will have to cross another shit-load of rock slides and end up outside the underground pass. You may teleport out of this maze-thingy if you like. Go to the bank and get another rope/restock on food. Then come back again and do the quest over.

  11. Continue following the path until you find Koftic, you will find that he's joined the dark side. Next to him is a grid puzzle. Here's how it works: You are to chose one of the four grids in the first row and hope its not the wrong one. If it is the wrong one, you will fall into a pit and be dealt massive damage. If you do chose the right one, go onto one of the grids vertically or diagonally in front (and of course, hope its the right one).

  12. If you choose the wrong one at any time, you will end up at the start of the puzzle again. In this case, go through all the grids that you know are right and continue the puzzle. Every person's solution is different.

  13. There's somewhere around 90 possibilities for the solution to this puzzle, so be patient, faithful, and possibly take some happy pills to ease the pain.

Orbs

  1. After you finish the grid, pull the lever near the giant spiky gate to go through the giant spiky gate.

  2. Follow the path to some zombies. Then keep going until you see some EXTREMELY narrow passes. You want to be careful here, there are A LOT high-damage traps in the walls. If you think you have high enough thieving, disarm them before you reach them. If not, just run through as fast as you can and hope that you don't get hit too high.

  3. After the narrow pass, you should come to an altar and a well. You may turn on rapid-heal here if you want and recharge your prayer/hit points.

  4. You should realize that this chamber has four passages surrounding it, each of those passages contains an orb. You'll have to get each one of them.

  5. In the pass directly north of the altar, use you plank on each of the flat stones until you reach the end. Grab the orb and come back to the altar. Use your plank on the flat stones on your way back too.

  6. In the most northern pass to the west, just run through an onslaught of monsters and grab the orb.

  7. In the middle pass to the west, you do that same thing as you did on the northern pass. Use the planks on the stones and such.

  8. In the most southern pass to the west, go all the way to the end and right-click below the orb. Search the stone under the orb to disarm the trap. If you fail to disarm the trap, a giant log will fly at you and hit you in the face. (Ouch)

  9. After you get all four orbs, go back through the super-trapped-narrow-hard-hitting pass to where the zombies are. There should be a furnace in this room. Use all your orbs on the furnace and they will go kaboom.

Raindrops, Lollipops, and Various Assassination Attempts

  1. Go back through the annoying narrow pass again to the well. Climb down the thing.

  2. You will end up another level underground. There should be some crates here. If you need food, one of them contains some salmon and pie. (You can only get the food once)

  3. Keep following the pass until you come to a prison with weird guys that look like Michael Jackson in the cells.

  4. Picklock the most south-eastern cage and use your spade on the mud.

  5. Now you're down another level, continue along the path until you see a ledge. Cross the ledge. If you fail, walk around and try again.

  6. Next to the ledge is a giant narrow-bridge thing. If you are level 50+ thieving, picklock the door to the south and run across the swamp. Pick the other door and you've just skipped the narrow-bridge thing.

  7. If you are under 50 thieving, however, it's a completely different story. Agility-fly your way through the maze. The lower agility people will fail a lot. The higher agility people will actually find the maze easier than doing the gate thing.

  8. Climb through the pipe to the south once you've finished the narrow-bridge thing. You will see a caged unicorn.

  9. Search the cage for a loose railing. Go around to the back of the unicorn cage and use the railing on the boulder. Congratulations, kid, you've just squished a caged unicorn.

  10. Search the dead unicorn's body for a unicorn horn.

  11. Go into the cave to the north.

  12. Go along the zombie-filled pass until you find three paladins: Harry, Carl, and Jerro. Talk to them all, one of them should give you some food.

  13. Now to give something in return for their kind offering of various pastries. Lets see...what shall we give them? I know! Eternal rest! That's always nice to have for suicidal people. They didn't say they were suicidal but you could soooo hear it in their voices.

  14. So the only nice thing to do for the paladins is to destroy them in the goriest way possible. You can take a little souvenir with you too. Their badges!

  15. Go through the northwest path using your plank on the flat stone. Keep going until you see another well. Use your unicorn horn and three badges on the well. Then go through the gate.

I'll Trade You My Hostage For Yours

  1. Go all the way south (might take a while), and go through a staircase along the southern wall. It's kinda hard to see so you should trust your right-clicking skills more than your sight.

  2. Go a little west for a dwarven camp. There are three dwarves here: Klank, Nilhoof, and Kamen.

  3. You can talk to Kamen at any time for a bowl of stew, some bread, and a meat pie. You will have to give up five hp in exchange though.

  4. Talk to Nilhoof to continue the quest. He will give you some food and hit you for 5.

  5. Now talk to Kamen, he will tell you about the witch and how she revived Iban.

  6. The are a lot of agility obstacles in this level, if you fail any of them you will end up at the dwarf camp's level and be hit hard. In this case, keep walking southwest for the dwarf camp. Here's a crude map of the level.

  7. Search for the witch's house. It's the only house around besides Iban's chamber. DON'T KNOCK OR OPEN THE DOOR! If you do, you get hit for 20+.

  8. Listen in on the witch via the window next to the door. You will find out that her kitty's gone.

  9. Go through the different bridges in the following pattern: north, west, north, west, etc. until you find a kitten. Pick it up.

  10. Go back to the witch, use the cat on the door. Your character will hide from her ugliness. The kitten, however, won't be so lucky. The witch will take the kitten in the house to "play" with it. You can take this chance to open the door and search the chest next to it. You will get some potions, instructions on killing Iban, and the doll of Iban.

  11. If you read the book, you will learn about the dove, flesh, blood, and soul of Iban.

Soul of Iban (Or was it shadow?)

  1. Relatively close to the witch's house are three demons: Holthion, Othanian, and Doomion. Or as I'd like to call them: Red, Wing, and Old Horny.

  2. Put on protection from melee and kill them. They're lvl-91 pushovers. Grab the amulets they drop.

  3. Near the demons is a lone chest. Use your demon amulets on the chest to get the soul/shadow (forgot which) of Iban. Use it on the doll.

Ashes of Iban (Ashes, flesh, same thing basically)

  1. Go to the dwarf camp. Take a bucket from one of the rooms.

  2. In one of the southeastern rooms is a barrel. Use the bucket on the barrel for some dwarven brew.

  3. Talk to Klank, he will give you a tinderbox and Klank's Gauntlets.

  4. Go east to Iban's tomb. Use your brew on with the tomb, followed by the tinderbox.

  5. The tomb will blow up and the ashes will appear in your inventory.

  6. Use the ashes on the doll.

Blood of Iban (Spider mania)

  1. Go north from Iban's tomb down a tunnel completely filled with blessed spiders.

  2. Continue down the tunnel until you see a HUGE lvl-78 spider named Kalrag. Kill it and the blood of Iban will be smeared on your doll.

Dove of Iban (Annoying!)

  1. Put on your Klank Gauntlets. (IMPORTANT!)

  2. Head back up to the agility maze level. Go as northwest as possible until you see a bunch of Michael Jackson clones (half-soulesses) in cages.

  3. Search all the cages until you find the dove.

  4. Use the dove on the doll.

La Chambre du Patron

  1. Go to the center of the whole agility maze. You will find of Iban Disciples.

  2. Kill a disciple for some Zamorak robes.

  3. Take off all your cloths (non-suggestively) and put on the Zamorak robes.

  4. Go to the door of the giant room but don't enter.

  5. Make sure you have 3 empty spaces in your inventory. If you don't, drop/eat something.

  6. Iban's chamber is filled with purple finger things coming out of the ground. You don't want those to hit you, they hit 11 each.

  7. Turn run on, enter the room, use the doll on the well in front of Iban.

  8. Iban says random stuff and dies. You are teleported to some place. Iban's staff, 15 death runes, and 30 fire runes will appear in your inventory.

Wrapping Up

  1. Talk to Koftic to get out of the cave.

  2. Go back to East Ardougne and talk to King Lathas.

Information on Iban Staff/Iban Blast

  1. Iban blast requires that you wield the Iban staff, 5 fire runes, 1 death rune, and level 50 magic.
  2. Iban's Staff requires 50 attack to wield.
  3. Iban's Staff is a battlestaff, having +40 crush and +50 strength.
  4. The Iban Staff has limited charges. Once you use up that charges, you will not be able to use the spell. To recharge your staff, simply use the staff on the well that you threw the unicorn horn and paladin badges into.
  5. If you lose your staff, kill Iban disciples to get a broken staff. After that, go talk to a guy in Zamorak robes located near the entrance of the underground pass in West Ardougne. He will fix the broken staff for 200k.
