Crafting
Crafting is the skill that you will create different items, such as clothing and jewlery. Crafting can be used to make money, but only once you are a very high level. Finally, just as smithing completments melee, crafting will complement range. I will divide this section into 6 parts: Pottery, Leather, Glassmaking, Jewlery, and Battlestaves
Pottery
To make pottery, you have to get clay, by mining, then use a bucket of water on it. Once you have done this, then you can spin them. Use the Clay with the Potter's wheel. choose what you want to make. Then use your unfired pottery with the potter's oven, and hope it doesn't crack.
Pottery can be used to make:
| Things To Make | Level Needed | Experience Given* |
|---|---|---|
| Pot | 1 | 12.6 |
| Pie Dish | 4 | 25 |
| Bowl | 7 | 33 |
*Spinning and Fireing
Leather
There are 3 types of Leather: Normal leather, Hard Leather, and Dragon Leather. Leather can be obtainable from a cow/dragon. The cows will drop a cow hide, and dragons a dragon hide. To make them into leather, you'll have to go to a tanner(there is one located in Al-Kharid, crafting guild, and the ranging guild). The tanner will then change your hides into leather, for a small price for each hide.
Once you have leather, you can make the leather into a piece of ranging equipment. To do this, buy some needles and some thread(buy more thread). Once you have the leather, needle and thread in your inventory, use the needle on the leather, and make whatever you want(as long as you have the crafting level. To make studed leather, you'll have to make some steel studs from steel bars, and use them with the hard leather body/normal chaps.
NOTE:DragonHide leather is Members, (green leather to black leather) and you need 1 piece of dragon leather for Vambraces, 2 for the chaps, and 3 for the body(only for dragonhide).
Here is a list of things that you can make:
| Thing to make | Level needed | Experience Given |
|---|---|---|
| Leather Gloves | 1 | 13.8 |

Glass Making
In runescape you can craft glass. To start, you will need a glassblowing pipe, a bucket, and some Seaweed. All of these(except the bucket) are obtainable at Entrana.
To make glass you will have to follow the following procedure: Use your seaweed with a range, and you'll have some Soda Ash. Now go to a sand pit, use your bucket with the sand pit(they can be found on Entrana, Zarnis, Yanille, and in Fremminik). Use the sand or the ash on the furnace. You will now have Molten Glass(20 xp for making molten glass). Use the glassblowing Pipe on the molten glass, and make:
| Thing to make | Level needed | Experience Given |
|---|---|---|
| Molten Glass | 3 | 20 |
| Beer Glass | 3 | 17.5 |
| Vial | 33 | 35 |
| Unpowered Orb | 46 | 52.5 |
Jewlery
Gold Jewlery
In gold Jewlery, there are three items that you can make, Rings, Necklaces, and Amulets. Each of these can be made into only gold itself, but doing that would be useless, as plain gold Jewlery does nothing, if only to look good, and Jewlery with Gems looks better. To obtain a Gem, you'll have to either, mine, the chance of getting a gem is low(members can wear a glory amulet to increase this chance), kill monsters, and mine the rocks in Shilo village(for members). These rocks, every time you mine them, you will get a gem, and you might even get the special Shilo Village gems.
Here is a list of all the Gems you can cut, the level needed to cut them, and the experience given to cut them.
| Name of Gem | Level needed | Experience for cutting |
|---|---|---|
| Sapphire | 20 | 50 |
| Emerald | 27 | 67.5 |
| Ruby | 34 | 85 |
| Diamond | 43 | 107.5 |
| DragonStone* | 55 | 127.5 |
*=members
The best way to get a gem while mining, is to mine the gems in Shilo village(for members), and to mine normal rocks (if you are a member, then wear a amulet of glory). The only way to get the Dragonstone gem is to kill monsters(or buy of people) that drop gems, untill you get a teeth half of a key and the loop half of a key. They can be combined to get a full crystal key.
To make a Ring, Amulet, or Necklace, then you have to use a gold bar with a furnace. To specify which one you want to make, you should have a ring, amulet or necklace mold in your inventory. These molds can be bought at the crafting shop in Al-Kharid and the crafting shop in Rimmington. Once you have used the gold bar with a furnace, you can specify if you want to make a ring, amulet or necklace, as long as you have the mold in your inventory. To make a ring, necklace, or an amulet with a gem inside of it, you will have to have the gem in your inventory, then use the gold bar with the furnace, and you can specify which one you want to make, so long as you have the amulet mold, the gold bar, and the gem in you inventory.
Here is a list of all the amulets, rings, and Necklace expe lvl, for each gem:
| Gem name | Ring level | Ring exp | Necklace lvl | Necklace exp | Amulet lvl | Amulet exp |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Plain Gold | 5 | 15 | 6 | 20 | 8 | 30 |
| Sapphire | 8 | 40 | 10 | 55 | 13 | 65 |
| Emerald | 18 | 55 | 24 | 60 | 30 | 70 |
| Ruby | 30 | 70 | 40 | 75 | 50 | 85 |
| Diamond | 42 | 85 | 56 | 90 | 70 | 100 |
| DragonStone | 54 | 95 | 72 | 100 | 80 | 150 |
Note: Amulets, before you're able to wear them, will have to be strung. To do this get some sheers from a general store, and use them with a sheep (sheep can be found in most farm-like areas such as lumbridge). Once you have wool, use the wool with a spinning wheel, and you will get a ball of string. Use this ball of string with the amulet, and you will have a normal amulet.
Amulets, and the sapphire necklace, and the rings, can be enchanted. Look to the Magic guide (if it's not up yet, it's coming soon...) for more information. Really all you need to know, is that you have to use the magic spell (enchant x lvl Jewlery) saphire is lvl 1, emerald is 2, ruby is 3, diamond is 4, and dragonstone is 5. For magic exp, see the magic guide.
Silver Jewlery
I wouldn't really call it Jewlery, but as it is made out of silver, it is under this section. Silver is probably the very best way to increase your crafting level, and because of this, the silver ore and silver bars come very expensive. In silver, there are only two things that you can make: a Holy symbol, and an Unholy Symbol(members only). The mold of the holy symbol is in you everyday crafting shop, and the unholy symbol, you'll have to finish Observatory Quest, then talk to the Spirit of Scorpius just north of the Observatory. The mold also can be droped from "unholy" monsters.
To make silver symbols, you will have to use the same process as gold, except that you can not add a gem. Here is the process: 1. Get some Silver ore. 2.Use the Silver ore in the furnace to get a Silver bar. 3. Use the silver bar with the furnace again, and as long as you have the mold in you inventory, you will be able to make it.
Once you have the holy/unholy symbol, if you want to wear it, you will have to string it by using a ball of string on it. Once you have done this, you can get it enchanted, by going to the prayer guild for holy symbols, and the spirit of Scorpious for the unholy symbols. You will get 4 exp for adding the string to the symbol and 3 exp for spinning the wool.
Here is the list of symbols:
| Thing to make | Level Needed | Experience gained |
|---|---|---|
| Holy Symbol | 16 | 50 |
| Unholy Symbol | 16 | 50 |
Battle Staves
MEMBERS ONLY
Battle Staves can be good exp/ money making, if you have alot of cash to start of with. Otherwise, you probably would be better not doing this. Also, you probably will need high level magic.
Battle staves can also be enchanted by thormac(40k) and become mystic staves. To make a mystic staff, you will need an unpowered orb(look at glassmaking section), 3 cosmic runes, 30 basic runes of the element you want your staff to be, and a battlestaff(but in varrok staff shop for 7k)
To make a staff, go and buy a battle staff, use it with a powered orb of the element you want your staff to be, and then go to thormac to enchant it. To power an unpowered orb, you will have to go to an obelisk, then use the enchant orb spell of your choice with the obelisk.
Here is where the obelisks are:
| Obelisk | Where it can be found |
|---|---|
| Water | Taverly Dungeon, past through almost the entire dungeon, up a ladder. |
| Earth | Edgeville dungeon, past the black demons, then go south. |
| Fire | Members dungeon, past the black dragons, and to the south. |
| Air | Edgeville dugeon, past the black demons, go north and up a ladder. |
Once you've made the staff, you'll have one of the best staff in the game(the best staff is probably the mystic staff of lava, this is only obtainable as a drop from the kalphite queen, and infernal mages).
Here is the chart for the Experience you get(just crafting exp):
| Thing To Make | Magic Level needed to Enchant | Level Needed | Experience Gained |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mystic Water Staff | 56 | 54 | 100 |
| Mystic Earth Staff | 60 | 60 | 112.5 |
| Mystic Fire Staff | 63 | 63 | 125 |
| Mystic Air Staff | 66 | 66 | 137.5 |
Note: I didn't include making the orb itself in the experience
