Slayer

MEMBERS ONLY SKILL

Slayer is a designed for you to be able to fight special monsters that either drop extremely good drops for their level or have "training rigged" stats, which means they have low defense and high HP. However, these monsters usually have some sort of trick up their sleeve that require special care and equipment to surpass.

1. The Slayer Masters

This is how one can train slayer. There are a total of five Slayer Masters across Runescape, they each have a wide range of monsters that they can assign you, but usually they stay around the same difficulty.

To know if a slayer master is near you, your minimap will show an icon with a picture of a chaos rune on it

They will assign you X amount of monster Y. You will gain experience as you kill monster Y until you have killed X amount of that monster. In which case you would have finished your slayer assignment. By that time, you should go to a slayer master and get another assignment.

Here's some info about the slayer masters in the order of difficulty:

Turael
Location: Burthrope
Stats Required: None
Pros: Close to a teleport. You can finish his assignments fast. Cons: His assignments tend to take you half way around the world to some remote location.
Other Info: The easiest of slayer masters. He can assign you anything from measly goblins to werewolves. He usually stays around the level 25 range. I wouldn't really stop using this slayer master until I get a couple of dragon weapons in my arsenal. He can also reassign you to a different assignment if you get one that is too hard/lengthy from another slayer master.

Mazchna
Location: Canifis
Stats Required: None
Pros: You won't have to complain about remote locations here, since this slayer master is IN a remote location. His assignments often take you to places 20 paces away from the slayer master.
Cons: He can give some really bad assignments that take a very long time to accomplish. These assignments are usually ones where the monster doesn't have a plentiful respawn or its respawns are very far apart
Other Info: He can give things from rock slugs to hellhounds. He usually stays in the slayer-special monsters like banshees and crawling hands. He's an OK slayer master if you are just starting out with your dragon weapons. However, his slayer assignments can sometimes get slow and tedius

Vannaka
Location: Edgeville Dungeon
Stats Required: None
Pros: This guy gives some really nice assignments that are either auto-attack low damage AFK trainers or easily rangable good drop monsters. He is by far the most popular slayer master.
Cons: Sometimes he will take you into the wilderness, and occasionally give you a bad assignment that takes you to a slayer dungeon
Other Info: This guy can give things from crawling hands to bronze dragons! He's famous because he could give you great training monsters like fire giants, dagganoths, shadow warriors, blue dragons, etc. Sometimes, however, he will give you an assignment so bad that you will have no choice but to get reassigned at the Burthrope place (such as when he assigns crocodiles).

Chaeldar
Location: Zanaris
Stats Required: 70 combat
Pros: If you cross your fingers and wear a rabbit's foot, she might just give you a large number of good range-training monsters like fire giants, jellies, and hellhounds.
Cons: The metal dragons she's famous for dishing out. She also has a tendency to give you low-level but poisonous monsters.
Other Info: I wouldn't really recommend this to people because of the difficulty of the assignments, you're usually better off with the Edgeville slayer master.

Duradel
Location: Shilo Village
Stats Required: 100 combat and 50 slayer
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Everything
Other Info: Metal dragons and kalphites, those are the only things he assigns. Don't bother with this guy unless you're off to hunt for a pair of dragon legs and want to gain a little extra experience

2. Level Advancements

There are a total of three slayer dungeons in Runescape: Canifis, Relleka, and Lumbridge Swamps. The Canifis and Relleka dungeon don't have anything special about them. But in the Lumbridge Swamp dungeon, you are required a rope to get in and a light source to stay alive down there. The light source may be a candle, oil lantern, bullseye lantern, and there's a bunch of other stuff. The Lumbridge dungeon is filled with traps that can un-light your light source, so it's a good idea to bring your tinderbox for re-lighting. Some light sources can surpass these traps and you can't access some areas with a bad light source.

Here are the level advancements for slayer:
